Attorney Jackelyn “Niky” Wooding is a Maryland licensed attorney and founder of The Wooding Firm. Niky has lived around the world as the daughter of an Air Force veteran, and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She  graduated from Prairie View A&M University, with a B.A. degree in Political Science, and spent several years working for Fortune 100 corporation in the areas of finance and strategic partnerships. After her work in the the corporate sector, Niky attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she excelled in the intellectual property(IP) curriculum, and was a member of the moot court, President of the IP Law Society, and interned at the United State Patent and Trademark Office.
Following her admission to the Maryland Bar, Niky served as an examiner at the United State Copyright Office, located in Washington D.C. Coupling her legal experience and unique IP knowledge with her business acumen, she began The Wooding Firm to provide readily-accessible legal counsel and representation in the complex area of intellectual property law and beyond.
As an effective negotiator, Niky makes her best effort to settle cases when possible, as she often finds that this is in the best interest for her clients. However, if litigation is required, she will work tirelessly in preparation for court. Niky has excelled in and out of the courtroom through her keen attention to detail, understanding of the application of the law, and ability to defend and articulate client’s rights.
However, Ms. Wooding is more than an attorney, she is also a certified mediator. She began mediating in law school while partnering with community centers, Durham County Civil Court, and local organizations to provide alternative means for disputes resolution between parties in civil, criminal, and truancy matters. After graduation, Niky became a mediator at the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, resolving disputes between local consumers and business owners. Currently, she facilitates court-ordered and private mediation sessions, to which her mediation success is a direct result of her ability to effectively listen and her transformative approach to find parties’ common ground to navigate parties to a resolution.
Currently, Niky teaches intellectual property law and volunteers her time with several legal and community-based organizations, as she is also a strong advocate for domestic violence awareness and prevention.
